SCUBA TRIP (REMOTE) INDONESIA! (July 5-16 2002)We are going to the Tukang Besi Island of Wakatobi July 5-16. This is an incredible route with a wonderful itinerary previously accessible only by liveaboard dive boat. We will stay at an ecotourism resort at Wakatobi. We dive the Selayar Straits, Butan, Bone Rate Atolls and the outstanding walls of Batuata. We also can dive Kaledupa, Hoga Island and the Wallacea research station. It is said that this region is the Epicenter of Biodiversity in the world. It is also said that these islands moved Jacques Cousteau to declare them the best dive sites in the world. We will be staying in an intimate, eco-friendly resort is located in the Tukang Besi archipelago in remote Southeast Sulawesi, Indonesia. Wakatobi is situated beside Tomia Island, one of four major islands covering an area of 821 sq. km. The beautiful resort is built directly at the seaside with an exquisite beach on a small island called Tolandono (the natives call it Onemoba'a). I have dived these sites from up to 6 dives per day from this location; it is truly incredible. Other activities are available as well. Certified divers only please!The trip to Wakatobi is long, but we have a non-stop flight charter from Bali included in the price (about three hours). I am working with my connections to find the best airfares to Bali, which are not included in the package price. I have been finding discounted airfares to Bali in the $800 RT range (from SFO/LAX) for the time period, and I am working on a package with several airlines. Right now, it is estimated that the package at the Wakatobi resort will not exceed the following and may be less. $2,690.00 all-inclusive for 11 days/nights/10days of diving. Although other pricing is available, I get a ton of extras included at these prices, three boat dives per day, all meals included; there really is nothing left to pay for once the package is purchased (and no nasty surprises). Unlimited shore diving (tanks, weights, air-fills) is also included. Equipment rental is $210 (complete with dive computer).
