ExploreUnderwater.com and PADI Master Instructor Monte Lee Thornton offers the courses, a Travel and
Underwater Photographer/Video Photographer and an
international Web Designer/Programmer.
Over the past 25 years of Scuba diving Monte Thornton has published photos in
textbooks, magazines, newspapers and Internet publications. His Photography
spans from underwater to Middle East archaeological compositions. Underwater
video of Cayman Islands includes scuba diving sights of marine life. In Belize
he has recorded remote islands' wildlife, marine life and rainforest to promote
adventure travel.
In 1996 he worked as a technician/camera operator for 14 special effect cameras
underwater at the aquatic center for the Atlanta Olympic Broadcasting. In 1998
he upd daily news online for a CBS affiliate in Houston and maintained
online broadcast imagery for daily news.
Other assignments have been photojournalism for special events like the
Westheimer Festival and maintaining the web content and design.
He is currently maintaining 120 corporate web sites of content, graphics and is
a photographer of companies' inventory. Monte Thornton is a marine naturalist
who started out photographing Humpback whales and feeding sharks.
Currently heteaches 27 different PADI certification courses and leads group tours to Belize,
Roatan, Red Sea, Bali, Austrilia and Cayman Islands. He has taken 16 environmental research photography
trips to Cayman. The RSL in Cayman is his deepest dive - 880 ft to the wreck of
the Kirk Pride.
Monte Thornton undertakes all diving projects including under water broadcast
work, archaeology, and multimedia development.
One of his specialties is to introduce divers to the diving wonders and to
explore uncharted remote reefs. He provides adventure in visits to remote reefs,
mangroves, rain forest, ancient ruins, exploring and photographing remote areas.
Explore UnderWater is available for photo/video assignments to gather imagery of
locations around the world. Above and below the waters for assignments of camera
operator for film and safety diver.

July 1st, 1979. Started underwater photography in 1978 with Nikonous III, an Ikelite housed system
for a Minolta XG1 and the Instamatics for selling photos to students.
Did my first shark photos in July 1978 in an area around Kinna Point. Every fifth day we dove the location
we encountered sharks of all sizes.
OTHER INFORMATION : Serving a fourth term as Vice-President Director for A Municipal Utility
District, Maintain ground water and wastewater services for a taxing district
under the Laws of the great State of TEXAS. I took seven years to obtained a contract with the City of Houston
for an interconnect to supply the district with surface supplied water, and meet our subsidence mans
for slowing the subsidence in the area which has lost four feet in the last 20 years. Involved with developers
with one project of 156 homes almost built out and adding another 80 acres which will add another 150+ homes
to the tax base, lowering the overall taxes which hase take major effort over the last eight years of
aggressive annexation.
He has taken 19 trips to Cayman photographing selected
sponges to measure growth and change from environmental factors.
The
RSL in Cayman is the deepest I have been 880 ft to the wreck of the
Kirk Pride.

He has been a seminar
speaker for PADI at SeaSpace in 1992 & 1994. Topics have been on
conservation issues of Seven & one-half fantom reef which resulted in enviornmental legislation
attach to certain state bills which resulted in the prevention of dredging up of the Laguna Madre
at the Port Mansfield area. American General Corporation was planning a 1.3 billion dollar tourism
complex on the north end of South Padre Island.
I have also gave a seminar on understanding of coral reef communities. In
the last four years, he has certified more than 100 divers each year from
the Houston area. Now about 1650 certifications issued in Houston.
He's been working on locations of shipwrecks and condition of the wrecks
which are in the Galvaston Ship Channel and which ones will be affected
by dredging of the ship channel. In October 1995 worked with archeologist
near Redfish Bar using a
ROV with side scan sonar trying to identify important wrecks in the
corridor of the proposed wider and deeper ship channel. This was inportant due to about 6 major
archelogical sites that will be damaged or destroyed or buried.

Monte's primary search is the shipwreck from 1528 of Casa DeVaca which
sank in a storm in the Galvaston area. Attached is a study
map of shoreline changesand a study
map of 96 unknown wrecks at the entrance to Galvaston Ship Channel.
Monte' is also working on making a video on the Federal shipwreck of
the USS Constitution
which is sank 2 mile off shore in 1864.
He is also working to get his photographs published in scuba publications.
Recently, photography of the Texas underwater gulf rigs were published in several
text books for Elementry Science Education.
He also worked with the Olympics
and maintaining the
underwater camera's for the Aquatic Venues and is now working towards
motion pictures for underwater.

The Rest of his time is devoted to maintaining twenty-two web sites which contain 3700 pages,
designing new web sites, Use to be the webmaster for a local CBS Affiliate TV Station,
General Editor for an Online Magazine in the United Kingdom. I currently have a T1 where I have
clients and my servers routed into the internet. E-Commerce designs result in most of my time online
and programing 4 new clients a week.
