The diverse training, research, photography and locations that Monte Lee Thornton has traveled will enhance your understanding of the diving locations you will travel, and your knowledge of the marine life you will encounter.
PADI is the leading certification agency for recreational
scuba diving. Open Water certification enables the diver to buy and rent scuba
equipment, and to dive without instructor supervision. Learning to dive
is fun and can be accomplished by anyone who is at least 12 years old,
able to swim, and reasonably comfortable in the water.
The PADI Open Water Diver
course begins with academic training, designed to provide the knowledge necessary to begin diving safely.
Use of diving equipment and diving skills are then practiced in a swimming pool. Learning how to apply
the newly acquired knowledge and skills are then practiced during four open water dives.
We offer the PADI Open Water Diver certification
course in a flexible format tailored to meet your needs. Varying degrees of independent study is available
through the use of books,
video tapes, DVD, and computer CD-ROM. Pool sessions can be conducted in a public
facility or your home pool. Open water dives are possible at a variety
of locations in Cayman Islands at different resort.
Fees
are consistent with those charged by local dive shops. We will be happy
to provide your basic personal equipment items such as mask, fins, and
snorkel for the course, and help in the selection.
The PADI Open Water Diver course materials include the
textbook, recreational dive planner, and dive log.

Monte, Irene, Jessica, and Alec
Our 10 year old son Alec, who loves movies, especially the Disney productions of Pirates of the Caribbean, was facinated
when we showed him the hull of an old shipwreck at 35 feet, at the Eden Rock dive site. It had been uncovered due to the
waves of Ivan. Irene pointed out a Cleaner Shrimp hiding in the wreckage to Alec, and later explained to him that it is now
a cleaning station for fish. After that experience Alec determined that it was in fact an old pirate shipwreck, and who are
we to correct a ten year old. Afterall they know more than the parents, right?
